Toy Innovations

The Toy Innovation project by the 2nd graders at Brown Elementary was a collaborative experiment using found objects and old toys.

We connected our found-object sculpture project to Vochol and the idea of “art as a vehicle” by observing how even a car can be transformed into a work of art through creativity.

Students were asked to collect their old, forgotten and broken toys and to reinvent them by collaborating with other students and their toys.

The toy innovations quickly began to take on a new life and new forms, and like Vochol began to inspire the imagination beyond the ordinary and into the extraordinary.
